LETTER FROM SCRCC CHAIR 01 2023

How do we get where we want to go?

Thank you for taking the time to read the Chair/CEO article. Even by writing this article, I know some may be offended or frustrated. However, I believe our mission is too important not to address what I have observed in my first 30 days as the Spokane County Republican Central Committee chair.

Who has remained throughout history the best Party because it stands for the Constitution?

Choices: Republican, Democrats, or Independents

Answer: Republicans

Who has the best platform?

Choices: Republican or Democrats or Independents

Answer: Republicans

Which Party has stood over time for the most freedom for all of its citizens?

Choices: Republican, Democrats, or Independents

Answer: Republicans

Which Party has stood for life, the vulnerable, and stewardship of our God-entrusted resources?

Choices: Republican, Democrats, or Independents

Answer: Republicans

We are the best Party, yet we have moved to distrust, division, demonization, and ineffectiveness that produces minimal results because of our Party's individualism and lack of a shared worldview. The democrats love that we fight each other harder and more passionately than we fight them. Why? Democrats don't have to debate ideas; all they must do is call names that cause fear and distrust. Once fear is accomplished, we break down as a party with a lack of trust, and internal struggles exaggerate the dysfunction of the Republican Party.

I was thinking about one of my favorite books written by Patrick Lencioni, a New York Times Best-Seller, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team. The triangle on the left is from his book. The triangle on the right is some of my thoughts on translating Mr. Lencioni's dysfunctions into healthy cultures. What if the Republican Party worked on building a healthy culture? A culture based 100% on Truth and 100% on Charitable Judgments.

I have been thinking about this quote all week. Is it true? What is true about it? Is it false? What is incorrect about it?

"The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend and an ally – not a 20 percent traitor."— Ronald Reagan

Here are the questions I am asking myself.

  • What steps can I take to be passionate about my beliefs yet not demand uniformity like the democrats?
  • How can I embrace my individualism, so it does not isolate others with a different view?
  • Where is the line that someone needs to move from a friend to a traitor?
  • In politics, am I calling names, so I don't have to debate issues?
  • What is healthy debate?
  • What is unhealthy debate?
  • What should be a public debate?
  • What should be a private debate?

Here is what I know – The mission is critical, the vision is clear, and the strategy will produce results. Let's build a culture of trust, healthy tension, commitment, accountability, and results.

MISSION: Get Republicans Elected

VISION: Fill Every Seat in Spokane County with a REPUBLICAN

STRATEGY: Empower PCOs and their neighbors to be grassroots leaders in their communities to win over people's hearts to conservative values.

God Bless, and God Bless the United States of America

On the money! It takes courage, charity, and letting go of our egos to get the best results.

Love it Chairman Brian! I will be working on these items as I do some self-introspection surrounding my attitude, my assignment and my responsibility.
